Why this exists
Our first fountain was plastic. It looked fine for a month, then a thin film settled into the seams and no amount of scrubbing reached it. One of our cats stopped using it and we did not notice for three weeks — until a vet visit for early crystals cost us most of a paycheck.
What it does about it
A cordless pump keeps the surface moving, which is what actually gets a cat to drink. The basin is a single piece with no seams to trap film, and it separates from the pump in one motion for cleaning.

When this is the wrong product
Not right for homes with more than three cats — 2.5L runs dry too fast and you will be refilling it daily. Also skip it if your cat only drinks from a running tap; that habit takes weeks to move.
